Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival - Logo.png

The Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival celebrates the richness and resilience of Afro-Latin culture in Atlantic Canada through dance 💃🏽, music 🎶, art 🎨, food 🌮, and community connection 🤝. Rooted in rhythm and shaped by memory, the festival creates joyful, inclusive spaces where everyone, regardless of background or experience, can move, express themselves, and belong.

Now in its 7th year, the festival returns as a three-day cultural oasis 🏝️ filled with free and ticketed events that bring downtown Halifax to life. From spontaneous street dance to curated art showcases and electrifying live concerts, this year’s edition transforms Bedford Row and the Halifax Waterfront into vibrant stages for culture, connection, and celebration.

HISTORY

The Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival (formerly “Salsa on Argyle”) was founded in 2017 by Director and owner of Haliente Creative Studios, Moses Diallo – whose wish was to increase the awareness of Afro-Latin dance in Nova Scotia, especially in the City of Halifax. This festival is devoted solely to “encouraging community engagement through the medium of dance,” which he believes will prove that the “language of dance is universal.”

The festival offers a chance for people of all cultures and communities to socialize, network, and discover our lovely city – as we find joy and hope in our common love of music, dance, food and the Arts.

The Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival is proudly produced by Atlantic Afro-Latin Dance Connection Limited, an incorporated not-for-profit organization. All rights reserved.
